Gigantic Mudflows in Sidoarjo, East Java: End? no idea!

Sidoarjo mud flow or Lapindo mud or mud in Sidoarjo (Louise), is the outburst events of hot mud   at the site of PT Lapindo Brantas drilling in Renokenongo Village, Porong district, Sidoarjo regency, East Java, since May 27, 2006. Blast of hot mud for several months causing sink of settlements, agriculture, and industry in the three districts in the vicinity, and to influence economic activity in East Java.
Sidoarjo mud flow or Lapindo mud or mud in Sidoarjo (Lusi), is the hot mud events at the site of PT Lapindo Brantas drilling in Renokenongo Village, Porong district, Sidoarjo regency, East Java, since May 27, 2006. Blast of hot mud for several months causing tergenangnya settlements, agriculture, and industry in the three districts in the vicinity, and to influence economic activity in East Java.

Mudflow termination scenario

There are those who say this mudflow could be stopped, with some scenarios below, but the assumption could surge halted until the year 2009 did not work at all, which defines this surge is a phenomenon of nature. The first scenario, stop the flood of mud by using the well snubbing unit at Banjar Panji-1. Snubbing unit is a hydraulic system powered devices are generally used for well-intervention work & Workover (doing a job into an existing wells). Snubbing unit is used to achieve a series of drills weighing 25 tons and 400 meters long is left on the early drilling. It is expected that when the drill is found then it can be pushed into the well (9297 feet) and then injected into the well covered with cement and mud weight. However, this scenario a total failure. Drill sequence is found at depths of 2991 feet but failed snubbing units pushed into the bottom of the well.

The second scenario is done by drilling sideways (sidetracking) drill bit to avoid the left. Drilling carried out by using the rig owned by PT Pertamina (Persero). This second scenario also fails because the damage has been found in some depth the veil between 1060-1500 feet, and the lateral movement of the drilling location BJP-1. Conditions that complicate the implementation of sidetracking. Also appeared bubbles in natural gas drilling locations feared endangering the safety of workers, the height of the dike around the drilling location has been more than 15 feet from the ground so that no longer worthy to be exalted. Therefore, Lapindo Brantas carry out permanent closure of BJP-1 well.

The third scenario, at this stage, the extinction of mud made by first making three new wells (relief well). Three locations are: First, about 500 meters southwest of the Well Banjar Panji-1. Second, about 500 meters west northwest of Banjar Panji 1 well. Third, approximately north-east of the Well Banjar Panji-1. Until now, this scenario is still running.

All three scenarios depart from the hypothesis that the mud came from a crack in the wall of the well Banjar Panji-1. And there is another hypothesis, that is happening is a phenomenon of the mountain of mud (mud volcano), as in bramara Kuwu in Purwodadi, Central Java. Until now, continue to spew Kuwu bramara slab to form a swamp.

Rudi Rubiandini, First Team member, said that the mountain of mud can only be resisted by operating four or five relief well at the same time. All the wells are used to surround the cracks where the mud out. This job barriers and time-consuming expensive. For example, a rig (drilling rigs) operating costs below USD 95 billion needed. Costs can swell due to contractors and drilling equipment rental charges are usually more expensive in dangerous territory. At least five wells will need USD 475 billion. We have had trouble getting the unemployed rig amid soaring oil prices.

Dwi Rovicky Putrohari, an independent geologist, wrote that the location of wells Porong-1, seven miles east of Banjar Panji-1, there were signs that show geological mudflow in ancient times, so his analysis. Rovicky noted a worrying thing: in Porong mudflow stopped within the period of tens to hundreds of years.

Ponari and The Magic-Lightning-Rock Healer

Ponari, a boy from Jombang suddenly became popular after he was struck by lightning. After the events that almost claimed his life, many people who believe this kid could cure all disease.

Child pairs Kasim (40) and Mukaromah (28), citizen Kedungsari Hamlet, Village Balongsari, Megaluh District, Jombang, in mid January 2009 and with their peers playing the rain. However, he suddenly felt his head as his fistful stoned, when lightning struck.

He woke up, found the stone like chicken eggs under his feet. When taken, the stone was pulled out reddish light. After that, the stone is brought home by him.

Long interval, suddenly the boy's house was always flooded with people from all over Java Timmur who want medical treatment to cure the disease. Unfortunately, no one knew, who told Ponari alternative medical practice that. Also, not clear all, who first treated by Ponari, so that the illness could be cured.

There's the story behind the mystical "lightning stones" Ponari. It is said that this stone is a relic of Ki Ageng Selo, Legend character who is said to catch lightning. Another story that is the two creatures "spirits" in these lightning stones called RONO and Rani who will join with Ponari. Two beings spirits that supposedly helps Ponari to heal people. And even more annoying and does not make sense anymore ... when Ponari leave from practice, because of the falling victim, many prospective patients who Ponari taking water from a well that is believed to have Ponari advice and blessings. Even the water drain behind the shaman's house was also not spared the onslaught of patients believed to bring blessings for

News about Ponari burst fills the news in the media. Ponari very phenomenon. Many praised by the destitute who have no property to be treated. It issued   that Ponari already gained total 1 billion rupiah from the practice. Grade 3 elementary school boy has become a new icon in the world of shamanism. Defeated the senior ones. Because traditional connotation usually less convenient, more comfortable being called paranormal or alternative medicine experts.

Ponari now busy with activities to help people to treat disease. Although until now I have never read or saw testimony from patients about the disease after recovery handled by the shaman was little. A few days ago Kak Seto who is chairman of KPAI (Indonesian Child Protection Commission), visited the residence Ponari, seeing indications of exploitation of children carried out by Ponari family. Ponari initially willing to go back to school and will not open his shamanism practice again, but a promise was broken .

Reported on TV that Ponari shaman reopen his practice in support of hundreds of residents in the surrounding apartments. But with the new provisions: only serves 5000 patients per day. This means that, if the 5000 quota was fulfilled a day, then the next patient is not being served the next day. With reason to avoid congestion that can lead to patients falling victim again. When to image how a business turnover Ponari practice, then it is roughly calculated, for example at least give an indication of patient services Rp. 5000, is in her 1-day turnover USD. 5000 x 5000 (patients) = Rp. 25.000.000/hari or Rp. 750,000,000 per month!! if there is ngasih more than Rp. 5000, it is not impossible turnover would be 1 billion per month, the salary is comparable to the General Manager's Top 10 Governement Company in Indonesia.

Toraja Funeral Ceremony

The Toraja live in the mountainous southern region of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. Most are now Christian. However, elements of the traditional religion, aluk to dolo ('the law of the ancestors'), are still followed, especially in rural areas.

There is a belief in Toraja that when you die you won't be separated directly from the family - you are expected to bring them good luck and so the family must respect you. When we think of our ancestors, we respect them as individuals, rather than as a group.

When a small baby dies, one who hasn't grown teeth yet, they used to be buried in a tree. It had to be a living tree, so that as the tree grew it continued the baby's life. Nicolaus Pasassung, 41, Linguist. Sa'dan, Rantepao, Toraja.

Ancestor spirits can be harmful or protective depending on how they died. People who have died an unnatural death, such as through suicide, accidents or in childbirth, will not go easily to puya, the land of the dead. Ancestors must be treated with appropriate esteem or they will become unhappy, impoverished spirits.

The most important ceremony in a person's life cycle is the funeral. For this reason, there is often a lengthy interval between a person's death and their burial. Time is needed to ensure that all family members can attend and to save money to buy buffalo. In some cases, the deceased may be kept in the house for years, injected with formalin and placed in a temporary wooden coffin. In the past, the body would be laid on a mat in a special room, with bamboo pipes under the floor to catch and divert body fluids.

Death is a gradual process rather than an abrupt event. The deceased is referred to as to mamma (sleeping person) or to masaki (sick person) until the commencement of funeral rites when they are called to membali puang (person who has become one of the gods) or to mate (dead person).

tau tau

Wooden human figures called tau tau accompany the deceased on their journey from the funeral house to the burial ground, where they watch over both the living and the dead. Once carved only for wealthy families, they are now status symbols used by a range of families.

Prior to the 17th century, Torajans were buried in elaborate, boat-shaped wooden coffins stored at the base of cliffs. After heirlooms were extensively plundered, Torajans began burying their dead in high cliff-face vaults. It is now common for people to be buried in family vaults.

Ceremonial Knife

Torajans call knives la'bo' to dolo (knife of the ancestors). They are rare heirlooms, believed to possess magical powers. During the funeral, precious items such as sarita textiles and ceremonial knives are displayed in front of the funeral houses, emphasising the social position of the deceased's family.

The widow of a wealthy deceased man wears black clothing and a poté (widow's hood) until the close of funeral rites, a few days after burial. The hood and other articles of clothing are dyed black using crushed Homolanthus populneas leaves and mud.

Warrior Dance

The duration of the funeral, and the number of buffalo killed, depends on the deceased's status. The funeral for a member of the nobility lasts up to seven days and may involve the slaughtering of between 50 and 100 buffalo. At a large funeral for a higher-caste person, a warrior dance called ma'randing is performed, to welcome the guests. The dancers' outfits are based on traditional warrior dress and weaponry.

Remo Gembel Hair Cut: A Mystical Ritual in Dieng

Dieng derived from the Sanskrit language "Di" and "Hyang". "Word "Di"  means a high place or mountain and "Hyang" means heaven. By combining these two words, it could mean that "Dieng" is a mountainous region where the gods and goddesses residing.
